Eating out is a major activity in Rome and you can find respectable,
and sometimes remarkable, dishes everywhere, even in the smallest alley
or hidden square. Most city-centre restaurants offer standard Italian
fare, and while some specialize in Roman dishes, the Eternal City also
has eateries offering other regional cuisines and a number of excellent
ethnic restaurants.
Don’t forget the pizzas! Rome has an abundance of good, honest
pizzerias, where you can enjoy the world’s best pizzas, pulled hot from
wood-fired ovens. Avoid the tourist traps around the Pantheon, Piazza
Navona or the Vatican, however.
